Bayer 04 applies to register Lucas Alario with FIFA

The Argentinian Football Association (AFA) refused to release Lucas Alario after discussions with Club Atlético River Plate. Bayer 04 Leverkusen cannot understand the actions of the association and the club. The refusal of the Argentinians to release the player means the Werkself can apply to FIFA to register Alario as a Bayer 04 player.

River Plate had given Lucas Alario the contractual right to leave the club on payment of a transfer fee. With the support of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the player exercised that right before the transfer deadline. To that extent, Bayer 04 Leverkusen are confident of obtaining permission for him to play on conclusion of the intense FIFA fast track proceedings and the club hopes Lucas Alario will be available for selection straight after that.
