Rüdiger Vollborn made 401 Bundesliga appearances in goal for Bayer 04 Leverkusen from 1983 to 1999. He won the UEFA Cup with Bayer 04 in 1988. Vollborn produced an outstanding performance and played a big part in winning the title. Vollborn was also in goal in 1993 when Bayer 04 lofted the DFB Cup. He holds the record number of appearances for Bayer 04. Rudi now works at Bayer 04 in fan liaison.

The BayArena will host an international match for the first time in six years when Ukraine and Italy face each other on November 20th (8:45 p.m.). Bayer 04 Leverkusen has agreed to a request from the Ukrainian Football Association to be able to play the qualifying game for the 2024 European Championship at the Bundesliga club's home ground.Show more
It is visible evidence of the new era at Bayer 04. Five newly-printed giant banners were attached to the south façade of the BayArena on Tuesday. Larger-than-life images of the Werkself players Florian Wirtz, Lukas Hradecky, Exequiel Palacios, Edmond Tapsoba and Robert Andrich are now in situ. They are six-metre high presentations of the present and future of the club complete with the new 'Under the Cross' brand image.Show more
The Bayer 04 groundsmen have again been awarded the Pitch of the Year award for the 2022/23 season as the BayArena beat competition from all the other Bundesliga clubs. It’s the second year in a row the Werkself have picked up the accolade for best turf in Germany’s top flight. The award from the German FA (DFB) was handed over to Leverkusen’s head groundsman Georg Schmitz at a meeting of all Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and Women Bundesliga’s groundspeople at the BayArena on Monday, 11 September.Show more
