The Czech can look back in 2020 at the summer of his life. In July, Patrik Schick married his girlfriend Hana, in August he reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with RB Leipzig and in September the Czech Republic international signed a contract with Bayer 04 to 2025. The striker knows all about challenges and he learned German for four years at school: At the age of 20, he left his home city of Prague and moved to Italy. Sampdoria, AS Roma – followed by the 12-month loan to Leipzig and finally being signed at Bayer Leverkusen. Schick on signing for the Werkself: "Bayer 04 play attacking and aggressive football. Those are things that I like."

Patrik Schick sidelined due to calf injury
Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have to manage without centre-forward Patrik Schick over the short term. The Czechia international suffered a slight muscle injury in his left calf in yesterday's final training session ahead of the DFB Pokal tie at third division SV Sandhausen. That was the result of an MRI scan following the training session in Leverkusen. Schick did not travel with the team for the second round tie in Sandhausen.

Patrik Schick is Footballer of the Year in Czechia
Werkself player Patrik Schick has been voted check Football of the Year for the second time in succession. In a poll held by the Czech Football Association (FCAR) the Bayer 04 centre forward was number one ahead of Antonin Barak (Fiorentina) and Jindrich Stanek (Viktoria Plzeň). The results were announced in Prague on Monday evening 20 March.

The training group is getting bigger: Head coach Gerardo Seoane was able to welcome back two returnees on Thursday 30 June. Charles Aránguiz and Patrik Schick are back at the BayArena and they have already completed their first sessions.
