Wherever ‘Danger’ – he owes his nickname to a similarity with the actor Max von der Groeben from ‘Fack ju Göhte’ – is, the ball is in the back of the net: During the second half of the season at Hamburg SV, Joel Pohjanpalo demonstrated his enormous quality in front of goal. Nine goals in 14 games cemented his reputation as a proven sharpshooter. The Finn says he's "a typical number nine" and he is defined by goals. If he doesn't score it was "a crap game." But that's generally not the rule for him: At HSV he scored every 100 minutes on average this year. Away from the pitch, 'Jolle' knows how to entertain himself: he loves cooking ("My Vietnamese noodle soup is a dream!"), loves coffee in all its varieties and is a keen traveller.
Joel Pohjanpalo is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen to play up front at Venezia FC. The 27-year-old made his Bundesliga debut for Bayer 04 in 2016 and the Finland striker has been on loan at several clubs since then. Pohjanpalo, who joined the Werkself from Fortuna Düsseldorf, also played for Hamburg SV, Union Berlin and most recently for Caykur Rizespor.
