Bayer 04 and Bernd Schneider have agreed terms on extending his current contract. The midfielder’s contract has been extended by 12 months and now runs to 30 June 2010.

“It was patently obvious to us that we should demonstrate our support for such an outstanding. This is not just a gesture as we are absolutely convinced that Bernd will be back and will make a full contribution to the team,” declares Bayer 04 coach Bruno Labbadia.

Schneider underwent an operation on a slipped disc in his neck and is currently in rehab.
